Little Whale Cay is one of just 30 mesmerizing, 'Robinson Crusoe' type cays that make up the Berry Islands. Occupying an area of some 12 square miles of pristine, turquoise ocean, just to the north of Nassau.

 

The Berry Islands are some of the most beautiful and bountiful waters in the Bahamas, with the 'Tongue of the Ocean' and on the edge of a marine park, the seas are brimming with marine life providing a myriad of shallow and deep waters for swimming, diving, fishing, and all water sports.

 

Extending to over 40 acres, Little Whale Cay is completely private and has a beautiful, long, gently sloping beach below Little Whale House.

 

The main accommodation is spread over the two-bedroom principal dwelling, Little Whale House. Perched on an elevated bluff with a path winding down to the main beach below, Little Whale House has an open-plan sitting room and bar and then a living room and dining room on the ground floor, supported by a commercial kitchen with adjoining chef's accommodation. There is also a bedroom suite. Upstairs is the main bedroom and a large private sitting room or study.

 

In an elevated position in the middle of the island, enjoying gorgeous views overlooking the shallow seas to the west, Peacock House comprises a dou­ble bedroom suite, with a sitting room, kitchen, and outside terrace.

 

Flamingo House has four bedrooms, three with en suite bathrooms, an open plan sitting room and kitchen, and outside terraces.

 

There is also an all-weather tennis court and an infinity edge swimming pool, dining area, and gym, all of course with spectacular sea views.

 

Two of the leading features of the island are the 2,230 ft runway and the main private harbour. The mouth of the harbour is 27ft with a 5ft draft at low tide, overlooked by the old school house and adjoining marina stores. There is also a secondary, smaller harbour and a hard ramp for a sea pla­ne. The combined features of both runway and harbour are rare for private islands.

 

The village comprises staff accommodation, stores, and workshops, built in classic island style. There's also an aircraft hangar, sea barn, and other supporting facilities.

 

The island was initially developed in the 1940s. There is potential to upgra­de, replace and add accommodation with excellent elevations,particular­ ly along the raised bluff which overlooks the main beach and has views along the Berry island chain.

 

 

For wildlife lovers, there is a small native flock of flamingos, peacocks, and Bahama duck among 34 different species of birds.

 

The island is self-sufficient, produces its own water, and is powered by generators.

Developed in the art-deco era of the 1930s as a private island paradise by the famous Wallace Groves (an early pioneer in the Bahamas), the 40-acre island is available for exclusive charter for up to 12 guests in 7 bedrooms across 3 secluded sea-view houses.

 

 

Little Whale House has two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms; a study with a WI Fl broadband satellite internet connection, telephone facilities, and satellite television; a living room/dining room with a large fireplace, a Bose I-pod docking system, & DVD; a bar; a media area; an external fire­ place with barbeque; a variety of external dining areas; a kitchen and the chef's accommodation.

 

 

Peacock House has a double bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, and outside terrace. The house also comes with a WIFI broadband satellite inter­ net connection, telephone facilities, a Bose iPod docking system, a flat-screen TV, and a DVD player.

 

 

Flamingo House has three double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and one single room with two single beds for children. Also, there is an open plan living area, kitchen, and external terrace. Little Whale Cay lies in the Berry Island chain, 130 nautical mi­les south-east of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and 40 miles north-west of Nassau. Private air charter is possible from both locations. The island is easily accessible by boat, airplane, or seaplane. The har­bour is adjacent to the seaplane ramp, next to the private landing strip. Bahama custom clearance is in Chub Cay, a five-minute flight from Little Whale Cay's private landing strip.
