Towering above St Lawrence River, Singer Castle is one of New York State's most memorable landmarks. Complete with dun geons, towers, secret passageways, and subterranean labyrinths, its scarlet-tipped turrets can be seen from shores on both sides of the US-Canadian border.

Set amid 6 acres of gardens and terraces, the castle features 17 bedrooms (inclu ding the staff quarters), a great hall with massive arched stone pillars, spiral stone stairways, a tea/breakfast room with gothic windows, library, drawing room, loggia, sunroom, wine cellar, a sprawling kitchen, upper and lower pantry with dumb waiter, 2 dining rooms and 10 magnificent fireplaces.
Further highlights include a labyrinth of narrow tunnels, used to connect the staff-quarters with the dining rooms and accessible through several hidden entrances (including one in the library that is opened using a secret button hidden in the bookshelves), a black-gated dungeon and, of course, the castle's grand terrace and enchanting heritage rose garden.
The property still boasts many of its original features, including several knights of armor, swinging chandeliers, a majestic marble fireplace, and even a collection of antique Singer sewing machines. Yet whilst the castle's decoration remains ornate and very much of its time, guests will also benefit from new electricity and water system and an all-new 200 ft docking area - the biggest one-piece floating dock on the St. Lawrence River.

Film Location
With its incredible architecture and its maze of secret passages and dun geons, Singer Castle also serves as an excellent film location. Superstar producers Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Bertram van Munster chose Dark Island as the dramatic location of the pilot program of a reality TV show called The Great Escape.

Singer Castle is located in Upstate New York, in the heart of the 1000 Islands. A series of airports are within 90 minutes of Dark Island. From here it's possible to transfer to the island by shuttle, tour boat, or personal watercraft. Please note, that guests departing from Canada must first travel to Heart Island near Alexandria Bay or to the town dock in Morristown to clear immigration and customs prior to docking at Dark Island. Helicopter transfers are also possible.
